Team of Killers Operating Around I-80 Near Nevada Reported on Coast to Coast

-Doing right is even harder than it sounds o_o?-
This is  a  scary Coast to Coast.  George Knapp filling in for George Noory.
Check out the trailer going by below (not the Roadtex) on the freeway. The police cam caught
this in April 2011. Truck could be
a Krisk or Panther Trucking according to some callers others say it is a Star. Your call.
While the show was going a big rig ran through a crossing and a passenger train killing 5 people.
Over the last few years scores of people have disappeared on and near I-80 from Nevada to neighboring states.   Following is one of many that have gone missing on this lonely stretch of interstate.
The Undersheriff of Humboldt County, Curtiss Kull stated that Mr. Carnes 86  may have fallen victim to a team of serial thrill killers operating for years unnoticed along the Nevada border.  It is thought that over 100 to 200 people have fallen prey to these murderers.
Car found near 205 Ramp I-80  Humboldt County.  Pat Carnes was a WW II veteran. Pat never went anywhere without Lucky his hundred pound companion. Pat was last seen April 14, 2010.  No sign of a struggle was observed by the  officers who discovered his car.  Patrick Carnes stopped near the Utah border and then proceeded down I-80 toward Elko.  While on I-80 he was stopped for failure to change lanes while passing a stopped trooper. That is the last known time that Mr. Carnes was seen.

There is no one profile of a serial killer according to the FBI.  Serial killers span sex, age, race, socio-economic status and professions.  They tend to operate within a comfort zone surrounding their homes or businesses and familiar areas.. It was a cold April night when Pat Carnes was stopped on I-80.  Pat Carnes told the trooper he is following a big rig truck to Elko.  That was the last time Pat Carnes and his dog Lucky were seen.

A woman age 60+ disappeared and her car was left at exit 205in the same spot that Pat's car was found.
No sign of a struggle just an abandoned car that belonged to missing woman.

Grant Moedl age 57 was driving the same kind of car as Pat Carnes when he also disappeared after his last cellphone ping was recorded near Mountain Home, Idaho. (info updated thanks to Cheryl)

The FBI has set up a task force that is looking for serial killers that may be associated with  truckers.
Predators look at you and size you up.  Is this someone that I can take? Is this someone that is a threat to me. There does not have to be a motive.

There is a picture of the truck that Patrick Carnes appeared to be following on the Coast to Coast web site.

  1. Only one sure way to get people out of their car on the highway... if you're a cop.

  2. Grant Moedl did not disappear from I-80, though details of his case seem similar. His last cellphone ping was from east of Mountain Home, Idaho.

  8. I was harassed in December of 2010,and again in April of 2011 on the stretch of highway 80 going east. In April I did call 911. I traveled through Winnemucca, Elko, and back again to Salt Lake regularly for my job. I'm female and was traveling alone. The trucks pulled up behind me and turned off their lights. It was dark and they would ride on my bumper. The 911 agencies (i spoke to at least 4) told me not to stop and I gave them accurate description of the truck and what exit it took after tormenting me for that long drive between Wendover and Tooele. I haven't wanted to delve back into this for the past 7 months, but, finally googled to see if anyone else had had problems. Seems like mine was not an isolated case.

  9. Sounds like these people are being pulled over by someone. We dont usually stop on a highway like that unless we need to. Either a police personel or someone impersonating one is my first thought.

  10. I'd surmise that he was abducted by more than one person and his car was dropped at that exit, which would tend to make one assume that the pair was traveling West. But that's just an assumption.

It may or may not be truck drivers, but truckers are generally perceived as being friendly and trustworthy when one is traveling. I believe I remember reading somewhere that the victim had some prior experience as a truck driver or had acquaintances that were, thereby increasing his trust level.

It could also be that the perpetrators feigned car trouble to get him to stop or befriended him and abducted him by maneuvering him into a situation where they could abduct him without being detected. Whatever the details may be there have been numerous disappearances and unidentified bodies found along the remote stretches of I-80.
