While the show was going a big rig ran through a crossing and a passenger train killing 5 people.
Over the last few years scores of people have disappeared on and near I-80 from Nevada to neighboring states. Following is one of many that have gone missing on this lonely stretch of interstate.
The Undersheriff of Humboldt County, Curtiss Kull stated that Mr. Carnes 86 may have fallen victim to a team of serial thrill killers operating for years unnoticed along the Nevada border. It is thought that over 100 to 200 people have fallen prey to these murderers.

Car found near 205 Ramp I-80 Humboldt County. Pat Carnes was a WW II veteran. Pat never went anywhere without Lucky his hundred pound companion. Pat was last seen April 14, 2010. No sign of a struggle was observed by the officers who discovered his car. Patrick Carnes stopped near the Utah border and then proceeded down I-80 toward Elko. While on I-80 he was stopped for failure to change lanes while passing a stopped trooper. That is the last known time that Mr. Carnes was seen.
There is no one profile of a serial killer according to the FBI. Serial killers span sex, age, race, socio-economic status and professions. They tend to operate within a comfort zone surrounding their homes or businesses and familiar areas.. It was a cold April night when Pat Carnes was stopped on I-80. Pat Carnes told the trooper he is following a big rig truck to Elko. That was the last time Pat Carnes and his dog Lucky were seen.
A woman age 60+ disappeared and her car was left at exit 205in the same spot that Pat's car was found.
No sign of a struggle just an abandoned car that belonged to missing woman.
Grant Moedl age 57 was driving the same kind of car as Pat Carnes when he also disappeared after his last cellphone ping was recorded near Mountain Home, Idaho. (info updated thanks to Cheryl)
The FBI has set up a task force that is looking for serial killers that may be associated with truckers.
Predators look at you and size you up. Is this someone that I can take? Is this someone that is a threat to me. There does not have to be a motive.
