- - - Doing right is even harder than it looks.

If you are going camping or you live somewhere with no refrigeration or a place with little or no reliable electricity, you may still want to keep some eggs.
first
Dab Vaseline on a paper towel. Lightly coat the entire egg with Vaseline, (don't miss any spots)
wipe off excess Vaseline and leave the eggs shiny - don't miss any spots. You can also use shortening such as Crisco. Though Vaseline works best.
next
Store the eggs in an egg container. Wrap the container with newspaper or plastic to protect against shock.
Store them in a cool, (as cool as you can find anyway) dry place.
You may consider a large zip lock
bag for extra dryness protection. (Don't store your eggs in the sun if possible.)
If the seal is tight you can leave plenty of air in the bag to give your eggs additional shock resistance, water resistance and even floatation.
Even in warm weather the eggs will keep for days or over a week.
In cool weather conditions you may be able to keep eggs this way for up to a month
but do not use any eggs that have a funny smell or color.
